Historic Racing
Richard has been racing for more than 20 years, was Chairman of 70s Roadsports for 13 years and is still on the executive committee of the HSCC. He has, over the years, introduced many complete novices to this exciting world of historic racing and would be delighted to chat to potential competitors on how to get started.
Whilst there are some modern racing categories that seem to suffer from the burdens imposed by stringent rules, sponsorship requirements and escalating tyre and aerodynamic restrictions, Historic Motorsport can offer a refreshing alternative: An opportunity to indulge in genuine close racing, with cherished historic cars in true period specification. Although the racing is often very close, competitors always maintain a healthy respect for each other, and their valuable cars. As enthusiasts, we all want to compete for FUN. Added to this, a brief wander through the paddock at any of the meetings will always unearth some rare and exotic machinery.
Race Preparation
Richard Thorne Motorsport has prepared many successful historic sports and saloon cars over the years and can accommodate any make and model of car through the vintage, historic classic or modern spectrum.
With our machining and fabrication capabilities we can carry out full or partial race preparation including shell preparation, suspension, steering, electrical, brake overhaul or upgrade, and bespoke parts to your specifications.
In addition we can also offer full chassis and suspension alignment, corner weighting and set up.
