Additional Driver / Operator

Additional drivers are possible with a fee of GBP 15.00 (excluding VAT) per driver per day. The person named on the reservation booking must be the main driver, present at time of rental and payer of any rental charges. Renter not driving:The only exceptions to a person renting without driving are corporate customers renting on a valid CDP and physically impaired customers with a disability that would preclude them from driving. In each case the driver must meet the Richard Thorne Classic Cars rental qualifications. Physically impaired person:The physically impaired person must be present; however, the driver may sign the rental agreement with the blind/visually impaired person's name by signing his/her own name next to the renter's, e.g. Jane Smith by John Doe. Age Restrictions and Exceptions

The minimum age for rentals in the United Kingdom is 25 years of age for all vehicles.


Cancellation / No Show Fee

CANCELLATION:If you wish to cancel your reservation for any reason you must telephone Richard Thorne Classic Cars on +44 (0) 118 9831200 and be ready to quote the booking number obtained during your original reservation.  If you cancel your reservation within 14 days of the date of your reservation confirmation, a full refund will be made to you.If you cancel your reservation after the 14 days period, we reserve the right to make a cancellation charge of GPB 40.00 to cover our administration costs, which we will deduct from the refund we make to you. NO SHOW:If you fail to cancel your reservation prior to the pick up time and do not collect the vehicle on the pick up date, we reserve the right to make a No Show charge of 50% of the rental charge, which covers our administration costs and compensates us for our inability to rent the vehicle when it was reserve for your use.

Driver's License

The driver must present a valid national driving licence held for a minimum of one year at the time of rental. An International Driving Permit / International Driving Licence is also recommended if your licence is not in English for translation purposes and may only be used in conjunction with a national driving licence. Customers holding the new Photocard Driving Licence must remember that the photocard and paper counterpart make up the complete driving licence and both must be produced when renting a vehicle. UK Endorsed Driving Licences. For codes DD (Reckless Driving), DR (Drink or Drugs), UT (Theft or unauthorised taking) and disqualifications of 12 months or more the drivers disqualified are allowed to rent only five years after the date of endorsement expiry. Short term disqualifications of less than 12 months, i.e. speeding or accumulation of points, allow the disqualified drivers to rent from the date of endorsement expiry.All other codes, add all penalty points. Richard Thorne Classic Cars will accept licences with 11 points or less accrued over a three year period.Endorsements on licences are to be taken from the date of conviction, not from the date of offence.


Insurance

Insurance for the named driver and any paid extra drivers is covered by Richard Thorne Classic Cars. No other persons will be covered to drive the vehicle and the hirer is wholly responsible for ensuring this during the rental period.In event of an insurance claim, the hirer will be responsible for an excess of £500.

Congestion Charging

Since 17 February 2003, Transport for London (TfL) has introduced Congestion Charging in Central London. The congestion charge applies from 07.00 hrs to 18.30 hrs - Monday to Friday, excluding Public Holidays. Full details including maps can be found on the TfL Congestion Charging website at www.cclondon.com Hire cars are not exempt from the congestion charging charge and it is your responsibility and not Richard Thorne Classic Cars to register the vehicle you are driving on a central database and to pay the charge each day you travel within the zone. Please note: overseas visitors to the UK are not be exempt from paying the charge. Cameras read the numberplate of the vehicle you are driving as you enter or drive within the charging zone and match it with the database. Once the numberplate is matched, showing you have paid the charge, the details are wiped off the computer at the end of each day. The GBP 5.00 Congestion Charge can be paid at any time up to 22.00 hrs on the day of your journey in the charging zone. If the charge is paid between 22.00 hrs and midnight on the day of your journey the cost rises to GBP 10.00. If the charge is not paid by midnight on the day on which you have been in the charging zone, you are asked to pay a Penalty Charge of GBP 80.00, which is reduced to GBP 40.00 if you pay within 14 calendar days from the date on the notice. Failure to pay the penalty charge within 28 calendar days incurs a penalty of GBP 120.00. Richard Thorne Classic Cars does not accept liability for these charges. Charges can be paid daily by cash, cheque and credit or debit card at selected retail outlets including post offices, petrol stations and nominated pay points. Delivery & Collection within the Charging Zone Because of the hours that our delivery and collection staff work, if you require a vehicle to be delivered to you in the charging zone before 09.30 hrs we will have to deliver the vehicle on the previous day, incurring a GBP 5.00 congestion charge. This charge will be paid by us and passed on to you in the delivery fee. Similarly, if the rental terminates after 16.30 hrs and within the charging zone, we will need to collect the vehicle on the following day, incurring a GBP 5.00 Congestion Charge. This charge will be paid by us and passed on to you in the collection fee. NB: although Richard Thorne Classic Cars is responsible for payment of charges incurred when delivering or collecting the rental vehicle, you remain responsible for payment of the charge for every other day that you drive the rental vehicle in the charging zone.


Methods of Payment

Methods of payment accepted via the Internet are limited to major credit cards . A credit card in the main driver's name or a One Trip Travel Order (OTTO) is required for booking the vehicle, however, you may opt to pay by other means (subject to specific terms and conditions being met) at termination of rental. Accepted credit cards are : Mastercard, Visa Switch/Solo and debit cards are also accepted. At the time of rental, an authorisation is obtained on your credit card based on the estimated rental charges plus 30%. You must have sufficient credit on your card to cover all charges.


Out of Hours pick-up/return

Richard Thorne Classic Cars opening hours are:8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. 9:00am to 4:00pm Saturday

Refueling Options

Richard Thorne Classic Cars rates do not include fuel.All vehicles are rented with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank or a local refuelling charge will apply.


Taxes
All rates are subject to a Government tax (VAT) at the rate of 17.5%.


Traffic fines

An administration fee of GBP 35.00 per fine will apply for parking / traffic fines or congestion charge fines.
