1955 Lancia Appia Saloon

£9,995 SOLD

1955 Lancia Appia saloon. RHD 1090cc V4. Lancia blue with grey west of England cloth interior. The Appia was the first all new Lancia small car post WW11 it’s styling very reminiscent of the big sister Aurelia B20, and built to the same outstanding quality. The full monocoque body shell was very rigid despite trademark pillar less construction. This together with the sliding pillar independent front suspension produced a fine handling car. The very compact narrow angle twin cam V4 engine is a little jewel and provides really lively performance; the car will happily cruise at 70mph on the motorway, not something many small saloons could achieve in the mid-1950’s! This original RHD example was supplied new to Italy, but was imported into the UK from Belgium in 1989. It is structurally very sound -  the car was treated to a full restoration in the early 1990’s; and there is considerable documentary evidence in the detailed history file. Former owner Peter Baker successfully completed a number of historic rallies with her and is responsible for the sensible engine upgrades including a twin choke Weber. An absolute delight to drive and will come with 12 months MOT. Mille Miglia Retrospective Eligible. £9,995
