Richard Thorne Classic Cars

Following Boris Johnson’s speech on Sunday 10th May, we are carefully phasing a re-opening of the workshops and showroom here at Grazeley Green, and have put new “Covid Safe” protocols in place to secure the safety of both our customers and staff. We will be publishing these on our website shortly.

Clearly with the slight easing of lockdown and the Prime Minister’s authorisation to drive reasonable distances again, many of you would like to use a Morgan or classic car!

SERVICE AND WORKSHOP BOOKINGS:

To this end we are now taking workshop and service bookings for week commencing 18th May. We have re-organised the reception area to include a “human contactless” drop off if you would like to bring your car to us personally, with all the necessary requirements regarding sanitising and social distancing. Our loan cars are available and will be deep cleaned between clients.

We are also offering during this time a free collection and delivery service within a 25 mile radius of the dealership, and asking for a small donation towards our driver’s time and the fuel costs if you live a little further away. Again by doing this we can maintain a contactless service whereby our driver can collect the car from your garage or driveway, and drop it back, fully sanitised, at a pre-arranged time. We are expecting some pent up demand for service work, so will allocate the new collection service on a first come first served basis.

As part of our “Covid Safe” arrangements I can assure you that our team will work carefully to avoid any risk of infection whilst carrying out the works on your car, including the use of gloves, face masks, seat covers, and we will sanitise all door handles, steering wheels, gear knobs etc. upon completion.

CAR SALES:

We have also put protocols in place if you are interested in viewing and test driving any of the cars we have for sale. For the time being this will operate on a STRICTLY appointment only basis. If you would like to view or test drive a car please give us plenty of notice so we can arrange for the car to be outside ready and waiting and sanitised for you prior to arrival.

Obviously we cannot maintain social distancing on a test drive with a member of our team - Our insurance company are happy for un-accompanied test drives as long as the following criteria are met:

You must be aged between 25 and 70 and have a Full British Licence for at least 1 year.

You must not have been involved in more than one accident or claim in the past three years.

You must not have more than 6 points on your driving licence.

You must be prepared to leave your existing vehicle and keys with us as a security.

If you do not meet this criteria, we may still be able to arrange a test drive on an individual basis but would need time to arrange this with our insurance company.

We ask therefore that prior to arrival you supply us a copy of your driving licence, and a check code from the DVLA which you can generate here: https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

We would like to re-iterate that, for everyone’s safety, we will only be accepting human traffic into the reception area and showroom on a strictly appointment only basis, be it for sales or service, with one client at a time, to enable us to sanitize used areas between customers.

If you have any queries or would like to book your car for a service or arrange a sales car viewing please do email helen@rtcc.co.uk or give us a call in the office on 0118 9831200. We look forward to welcoming you back!
