1939 Morgan 4/4 series 1 flat rad.
This is a beautiful example of Morgan’s first foray into 4 cylinder 4 wheeled cars, hence the name 4/4.
Affectionately known as “Henry” It is fitted with a Coventry Climax 1100cc engine and a Meadows gearbox and performs very well indeed.
This particular example was fully restored in the Czech republic in the late 2000’s and thereafter was only used as a display piece until more recent ownership when it was used but sporadically. This has resulted in the car still being in a beautiful condition inside and out.
The car was bought back into the UK in 2015 at which point George Proudfoot of Flat rad fame brought it back into roadworthy condition along with some work carried out by ourselves. The bills total over £10,000 with works that include a new wiring loom, radiator, suspension works, brakes and engine works.
Meaning that both the body, interior and mechanical of this car is remarkable for a vehicle with nearly 90 years of life under its belt; I only hope we all fair as well!
Even though it is nearly 90 years old these early Morgans are very usable pre war classics and are remarkable user friendly compared to a lot of cars of the period.
