The original brochure describes the Marlin Hunter as “an elusive blend of style, panache and a quiet sophistication.”
A motorcar whose traditional pre-war looks belie a unique combination of ride comfort, all-round practicality and handling, and which taken together, truly merit the sobriquet of ‘sports-tourer’.

Our car is presented in a modern two tone black and silver paintwork that make the car look really sharp, adding a modern touch to an otherwise pre-war looking car.
The 2.0 DOHC Ford engine powers the lightweight body on down the road very nicely along with a nice throaty exhaust note to follow you around. This, paired with the Ford MT75 gearbox, also gives you plenty of reliability as well as a readily available supply of parts.

Just under 55,000 miles on the clock, and an MOT pass in June with no advisories, this would make a really striking, head turner of a car for somebody; a real conversation piece in the showground lineup.

Features include: electric windows, alloy wheels, central locking, a radio CD, electric aerial and a good size boot, roll over protection and side impact protection as standard – wild to say it now, but for a kit-style car built in 1996 these must have been revolutionary.

The takeaway: Our Marlin Hunter is a very well-presented, usable starter classic with great curb appeal and within reach of most budgets; in addition, as an added bonus our car was featured in the Marlin Car Company brochure advertising the Hunter specification.

Priced at just £6,995.
